In the deep south of Suriname, close to the border of Brazil, in the virtually untainted rainforest lies the challenge of this tour: the mysterious 718 meter high Kasikasima mountainous area with no less than 12 tops. The tour starts with a one hour flight to Jungle Lodge Palumeu, where you’ll stay the first night. This lodge is situated close to an Indigenous village with the same name at the Upper Tapahony River in the heart of the Amazon rainforest. You’ll be fascinated by the untouched rainforest in this area, with howler monkeys and birds which announce the break of dawn, impressive rapids, unique flora and fauna and the current lifestyle of the Trio and Wajana Indigenous tribes.
During the boat trip from Jungle Lodge Palumeu to the base camp you’ll pass several spectacular rapids. The intensive climb to one of the tops of the mysterious Kasikasima mountain area will be rewarded with a breathtaking panorama over the stretched out rainforest. Boat trips in a dugout canoe and intensive hiking will be alternated during this tour. You’ll spend the night at a basic hammock camp so you’ll be able to fully enjoy the sounds and scents of nature around you. During this tour, far away from civilization, you’ll enjoy the overwhelming flora and fauna. This 5 or 8 day Kasikasima Jungle Tour is a real must for adventurers.
